Can somebody help please.

I put a picture of some "lightweight" rockers in the valuations section http://www.theminifo...-rockers-value/

On our road and race cars we always use the "normal/thick" rockers, so I'm intrigued to find out what these "lightweight" rockers are, and what (if any) benefit and value they have.

Any assistance much appreciated.

thanks

Mike

Original pressed steel rockers.
Marginally better lift than the sintered later type.

I tend to use the pressed steel ones as they can be rebushed rather than scrapped.

Well you can pick them up off eBay for anything up to £20 if that helps. They arent worth an awful lot although they may for a cheap conversion to 1.5 rockers if you can get the offset bushes for them.

They aren't as strong, but are opposed to be more accurately produced than the forged variety. They are still adequate for most road cams / springs & can be beefed up with weld.

Worth noting though that while they are not as strong you do have the added advantage that they usually bend instead of snap like the sintered ones. This 'can' lead to less engine damage and there wont be any shrapnel to fall into the depths of your engine.

The original DV book, How to modify your Mini, has a section on welding them up for extra strength.
