well if there's sparks and fuel then all that's missing is air!! but unless the air filter is completely blocked then unlikely that. Perhaps the spark isn't happening at the right time - crank sensor?

Running again now! But for how long? Managed to get it going by jump starting it and after constant turning over and a lot of coughing, it fired into life! However, I am thinking that something is amiss. Any ideas people?

Maybe your battery is on its way out and isnt holding a good enough charge to fire the engine

Battery seems fine, turned over fast enough. Only jump started it because I had worn the battery down from trying to start it so much

Temperature gauge moves as normal so seems ok

check all the water ways in the intake manifold are clear, also plug the diagnostic machine back in when the engine is cold and see what temp readings it shows.
i had a similar prob and it was the temp sensor not working properly, the ecu was not reading the engine was cold so it did not alow for this when trying to start

The sensors are weird beasties. They may seem ok, but there is only one way to check, stick it on a diagnostic tester and read the live data. Also check earth straps in the engine bay and the boot and ensure they are spotless, lubricate with copper grease.
You can't just assume that it seems ok.
