Ultimate Head Steady Issues Help Asap

Basically taken it off and can't for the life remember how it goes back on, got the 2 in for by the bulk head so its washer, rubber, lock washer, nut from inside out, but the other 2 that are closest to thermostat I cannot work out how you do up the one that sits underneath the plate of the steady. Car is 1991 car cooper 1275 with sandwich plate and the steady is squished at bottom. Cheers

Having just fitted one, I think "underneath the plate of the steady" indicates you've got it upside-down. I've got the same sandwich plate setup, and the instructions clearly said to mount that plate with the sides bent upwards. that would leave the hole for the steady upward-pointing too, and you wouldn't need to get underneath anything.
