Hi guys, just got my Uncle to have a quick look at my Mini as I'm not around atm, and he mentioned an issue with the positive battery lead being exposed, potentially being a fire hazard with all the metal in the boot? My question is, is there any way of protecting this or can some sort of cover be purchased to remove threat of danger?

Cheers

You can either get a battery terminal cover to suit your terminal or a cover which goes over the whole battery and gets strapped down over its length, there's some on eBay at the moment

I interpret your opening post to be that you have a exposed part, part way down the cable, if this is the case, try to determine what has caused it, and if wrapping plentiful amounts of insulation tape around it is the only reasonable solution, it will have to do

Thanks, annoyingly I'm 300 miles from the car atm so can't get a picture but apparently I can just fashion some sort of cover out of rubber or wood just to cover it (I think it's an exposed part). I'm only thinking it would be easier and save a lot of hassle to just buy one?

The original battery cable has a rubber cover that goes over the terminal.

And obviousely a card cover with a strap.

Great, I think this is the item I need, its just a matter of either buying one or fabricating one myself. Seems like a lot of hassle though for something that can be bought easily!
