you'll want a r65u gearbox, gear selector system. the 1.4 plastic inlet manifold should be no problem with the bulkhead. do you want to run carbs or injection?

should fit under the std round nose but you will definitely want a removable front.

Hmm I really don't like removable front ends they look uneat all the time

And that gear box r65u is only needed for the 1.6 isn't it

its a fecking nightmare doing conversions to metros. I would seriously think about it as you may damage your wings or the many sensors on the engine

All fits lovely under a round nose (if its removable). Standard k-series inlet on it too.

The r65 box is used as it's smaller in size to fit under a round nose with an all spread subframe

You can use the pg1 ( c4bm which has the starter at the top rather than the front ) but this is a bit harder to fit in a round nose but gives the best ratios and is a stronger box

As agoaty says join the 16v mini club
Lots of info on there, and if you can't find it there's plenty of guys there that can help

I fitting a 1800 with vvc manifolds pg1 box in standard length round nose

As minion and Agoaty above have said, 16VMC is the place to go in respect to what you're asking. What you want to read, to save you searching is this thread right here.

http://www.16vminicl...read.php?t=8625

There seems to be so many options and choices with the K series engines and it really is worth having a good old read. I plan to swap my Vauxhall conversion out for a K series conversion this coming winter and I am still learning a lot.

You seem to have a basic idea of what you are going to need but it will get much longer and comprise of many more parts.

In regards to having a removeable front, yes a lot do look rubbish but they can be done really well, look at Instant Custard and Kam, theirs are fantastic. I can only think of a few cars off the top of my head that have all steel front ends, one is Marks Z18 and the rest have all been micra engines and an incredible amount of work has gone into them.

16V conversions are fantastic in my book, you'll end up looking at your car with a completley different mindset, I do anyway.

EDIT.

Allspeed suggest that with thier frame, with a 1.6 with the plastic inlet it will clear the bulkhead with no need for modifications, as far as I am aware the only time you need to touch the bulkhead is if you are running the cast 160 inlet.

I keep saying this, but it's personal choice. Don't bother with any other engine than the VVC. The bulkhead mod is a 10mm cut into to the box holding the clutch pedal master. Not a big job in the scale of things. The resale value is limited if you use the smaller engine.

As for the gearbox, the off the shelf box to use is either the 5C35 R65 or C6 PG1 which is stronger, but bigger.

I am assuming you have a roundnose Mini. Mine was but now has a steel Clubman front welded on.
