I'm going to look at some wheels soon but I've re-read the responses here and I'm just trying to clarify and summarise!
The wings have been cut using the printable template from mini spares or mini sport (whoever does it) and the original 13x6 sportpack wheels don't hit the metal wing, will 13x7 be ok or not based on this? Or is it just trial and error?
Cheers guys!!

if it does still hit then i cant imagine it would be much, so just get under there with an angle grinder and keep cutting untill it stops rubbing. thats what i did with mine. I dont get any rubbing on the wings, and my car is pretty low. i used the sportspack template thing when cutting my wings and it wasnt really all that accurate, had to take off loads more.

Sorry to hop in late here folks.
If you want to fit 13x7s go for it. As Chris1992 has stated, it will be fine if you just take it easy and grind it out bit by bit (make sure the wheel is off!!!!).
Your handling will be affected, however i find that for myself its just the bumpiness of the roads that take getting used to when going up to 13s. My mini is considerably lower than most, and i'm currently running 13x8s, so i feel the bumps, however i'd say generally the car is a corner carver. I wouldn't say 'control' is lost in anyway as long as both hands are properly on the wheel (where they should be!)
As for wearing the wheel bearings and strain on running gear etc is something i agree with, but i don't see why it is such an issue to some people. Think of it this way, you have either changed the bearings before, or you will at some point have to change them anyway. People make out that after month of driving on bigger wheels your car will need repairing, which just isn't the case, should you be driving responsibly.
Best of luck. Should you need any help knowing about wheels just drop me a PM

I have some 13X7 mambas (dished) To get mine to fit (nightmare) I had to cut out the arch in the wing, move forward the SP arches those vital few mm. Change for Hi Lows (and uprated cones whilst I was doing it but not needed for wheels) new ajustable tie bars, bottom bars and top bars, some spacers and have it all professionally set up. Finally after many hours (and pennies) they fit and look awesome. And as an added bonus feel amazing, 13s are meant to feel rubbish and they did right up to the point I had the tie bars, bottom and top bar and set up. After them, feels like its on rails with great feedback! Would recommend them to anyone!
Take your SPs off to cut the arch out, measure twice cut once, don't overstep where the SP attaches and comes to. Take your time, do it as smoothly as possible and carefully not to let the panel get too hot or bend too much, de burr and paint! Not to be patronising, but when at shows ive seen some real rough ones and I can never work out why they didn't take the extra half hour, and they can rust so easily if left unpainted. ![]()
And as for the wear issue, wheel bearings are the only major extra wear. and after some of the bills our little "treasures" throw at us, bearings isn't a big one.
