Has anyone got any information or a build thread on the specialist components mpi throttle body kit? As I'm looking to tune a 1380 mpi engine and I know this wont really be possible without a change in ecu to allow enough fuel..

Cian,

Is your engine a 1380 as well? Is there much point to this if your running a standard 1275??

cheers

Now that is interesting. Mine is a 1380. Is it simply plug and play or did it need setting up on a RR?

you will need a rr to get the best from it, SC will supply a base map but you'll defo need to hit the rr

Great to hear its good as the price is steep for a hard up student like me!!! Are you running it with a tuned 1275 or 1380 Cian?!

Sorry havnt been on in a few days, well i got to the stage where i was running a full stage 3 set up on the standard rover injection system and it didnt run great and should have had better performance so i went for the sc kit and it has totally transformed it! More power more torque smoother running! Its so easy put in no modifying looms or anything like that but yes sc provide a basic map but mine didnt run with thier base map but once i took it to my tuner he had it running sweet in a matter of hours!

My set up

Stage 3 head
1.5 roller rockers
Sw5 cam
Lightened duplex
Straight cut drops
Rebuilt box
3.4 ratio
4 pin diff

Very interesting topic. I feel people might be heading down this road as they give up on the Rover setup. I'm almost there:-) If I ever get my sorted, we will see but this looks really cool. The price is high but you are getting a lot of kit for it. I am very interested in hearing more from people.

Are there any dyno comparisons or side by sides? That would be great to see. Wondering how the torque curve looks compared and that sort of thing.

I really want to get mine on a dyno and the next oppertunity i will! I believe sc said they got 6bhp on a standard mpi just by switching to their setup! It is alot of money and it killed me paying it but it is totally worth it and im not sure if you could do it any cheaper but it wouldnt look as neat and trick as the sc set up

Glad to see you're pleased cian!! Looks like I'll have to invest in a kit once a start on the engine tuning (luckily I have 2 so the car is useable!!!!)

Cian, How does the new ecu interact with the factory fitted alarm and immobiliser? Any problems in setting up or does it just work fit and forget style?
