Some basic Information first about the Lucas Wiper Motor

Minimum length of the brushes 4.8mm if the brushes are any shorter they need replacing

If the amps exceed more than 4 when the wipers are on remove the arms/blades and retest, if the current is still above 4 amps it maybe a dry rack or seizing wheel boxes. Disconnect the rack from the motor assembly and test, if the amps of the bare motor exceed 4 amps continuous the motor has a internal fault. Do not hold the wiper arms as a current of 12amps even for a few seconds will burn the armature out.

If you connect a spring balance to the end of the internal rack cable, the cable should turn the wheel boxes with a 6lb pulling force, if its any higher strip inspect or replace the wheel boxes/worm cable

Self Park Faulty Issues

If your self park stops working before you buy a new White Self Park Switch, check the switch has not become detached as it only clips onto the motor body.

Wipers don't self park and white switch has been tested/replace, Ensure the earth wire from the motor case to earth is attached and clean

Motor Plug Wiring

1 = earth (black)   (=Black
2 = park link (brown)
3 = fast (blue) 12v when wiper switch is in fast position
4 = ignition live (green) 12v when ignition switch is in fast position
5 = slow (red) 12v when switch is in slow position

The Pin Numbers are marked on the Plug
