No it didn't have lugs. It's the only badge I was able to save. I cleaned off the old sticky pads and made new from some self adhesive number plate mounts I had. Was a bit fiddly cutting rectangles to fit the letters mind.....

So jealous! Are you not putting silver stripes on the bonnet..? You'll have to take the grill surround off if you do 😀

Yes the stripes should be going on this weekend. It's not a Cooper without stripes 😜 Just needed the trim on to align the hockey sticks

Wow I mustve been so excited getting the Ollie on the road in 2017 I forgot to come back and update.  What an amazing little car hes turned out to be.  Attracts attention wherever he goes.  I will return with pictures of the finished car and his adventures shortly

So as promised I've returned to finish this restoration story. Once the exterior was sorted it was time to turn my attention to the interior.  It was looking past its best with very worn silver sections and scuffs.  I thought Id get the silver colour matched and use leather paint to redo them.  I was very impressed. Spot on colour and three years on they still look amazing.

Something had been dripped attacking the exisiting silver

Scuff on the drivers seat

Filled and sanded using leather filler

And then leather paint

Here are the two front seats, one restored and one original. So happy with the result

And a restored rear seat

And after.  Not ideal on the steering wheel as was hard to get a nice finish with the stitching but three years on still hasn't worn

Carpet was given a good scrub but was intact

Drilled out blanking plug to install 12v socket and wired into the sunroof feed which wasn't required

Rear shelf recovered to match headliner, high level brake light, and alpine speakers installed.  I chose these as they fit directly into the existing holes

Rear seat installed

and door cards

Then took the wheels to be acid dipped and powder coated.  All ready to go on the car

And we made it.  After a few years of blood, sweat and tears hes finished.  Apart from the bonnet stripes as I messed up the night before L2B.  But here we are L2B 2017.  Made it all the way from North Wales to Brighton and back with no issues.

And since then we've had loads of fun together

And Finally the stripes were fitted.  Took me another year to get round to fitting them but they look great

Superb job with him, I read the whole thread yesterday and was glad to see you promise to put up finished pictures once I had gotten to the end.

Nice to see him getting out and about and being enjoyed.
