Wow! I've not been keeping up to date on the forum for a while. Your car looks great! If mine looks half as good when it's done I will be over the moon! Keep up the great work. Joe

I'm trying to put an update together

The company that Jack & Myself worked for went into administration.

May 25th

They got us all into the canteen, told us we wouldn't be getting paid, no redundancy, no money in lieu of notice.

Grab your belongings and leave.

Anyway a few weeks after this we were both employed again. This time we worked for different companies.

Ruby Two progress has been a little slow to say the least.

Motivation is picking up again so I will try my best to get something posted up this week.

Sorry to hear about the jobs. But at least you have both found employment again. Look forward to updates

Like everyone says - you work hard and the details make the difference.  A lot of work.  My mini is kind of the opposite of yours.  I don't like cleaning vehicules much.  Yours is always very clean - amazing !

Here goes

Not that much been happening,

The engine & gearbox was stripped back a little

It got a coat of etch

then silver & red

zTmTokx.jpg

IaLDDv1.jpg

pF6addO.jpg

Washer Jet hole will have to be drilled out a little

AOnj9Fp.jpg

Repainted the accelerator pedal

keZRUO5.jpg

Purchased a replacement tank, The original one from Ruby was a little squashed, It didn't leak anywhere but I couldn't bring myself to use a squashed one.

KYyXziB.jpg

h04EDfh.jpg

If I've ever wanted to load Ruby on to a trailer there was never anywhere to attach anything to.

So O modified a Peugeot towing eye.

JyYZs7B.jpg

Changed the way we mount the front sub frame through the teardrop & front panel

And there you go

Also Jack has got a new mount for the go pro to fit on here.

aLoPpSk.jpg

New rear hub nut covers from DSN Classics

SZhGOLF.jpg

Alternator to bits, new bearings & carbon brushes

Rubbed all the casting marks out of the alloy ends

Quick coat of paint. Just waiting to do the fan white. Then it can go back together

67VzExg.jpg

Fitted the painted petrol tank

qk8hdR7.jpg

That's about it.

Been painting a set of wheels for Jacks other car.

Uvf7Dz7.jpg

vPMJYF4.jpg

Then had to dismantle the whole front end to take the DPF of to have a go at cleaning that.

Pack of oven cleaner & Caustic soda has worked wonders.

He says its like a new car again..

So this next week I really hope to be back on track building Ruby Two up

WITH NO DISTRACTIONS - JACK !!!!!

Jack has had a new stainless washer bottle made

PMi8Ype.jpg

3JDdThs.jpg

Exhaust Manifold wrapped, Just got to put the stainless fixing straps on at the ends.

hhCTOxZ.jpg

That just about brings us up to date The rear hubs are all built up, handbrake cable has been painted & fitted.

Just had the exhaust connecting pipe made & welded. Jack is going to wrap the exhaust just past the gear selector box.

Then it can be fitted and put on her wheels for the first ever time.

At the moment Ruby Two is very dusty. She will have to go outside soon while I paint a few more bits in the garage.

I will give her a bit of a blow down with the air hose while she is outside. Thanks for reading everyone.

Evening all

The exhaust wrap was secured with cv joint style clamps

peglGF1.jpg

Once complete this was fitted to the car

along with the new inlet manifold

4m6eFJ0.jpg

The rest of the exhaust was wrapped just passed the gear selector

Polished and fitted

5qoXbbo.jpg

0bbcvtV.jpg

The manifold clamp was fitted with am aero nut and a pin to make sure it doesn't come undone

1HjxmCJ.jpg

Battery cables were fitted, Changed the bolts to stainless ones

ITpvOHQ.jpg

The new washer bottle was fitted

ygfnl9g.jpg

The boot sub box, amp rack, boot floor and covers were test fitted to ensure they still fit. THEY DIDNT !!!

Small changed need to be made we can get the same sort of fit that we had before

WW1h8ep.jpg

While the battery was connected we tested all the electrics and made a few changes to the alarm and lighting.

We made the side lights come on for 30 seconds when you disarm the alarm.

Its a bit slow progress at the mo.
