As an owner of both classic and new MINIs, I can honestly say I don't really want a new MINI section here either given a choice.  I am a member of pretty much every new MINI forum there is for discussing them. That said if a new MINI question is asked and I can answer it, then I will, in the same way as I'd answer a question regarding Zanussi washing machines or bridge building if I could (the latter being more likely ;D ). That said I wouldn't expect a section for either on a classic Mini forum.  At the end of the day the forum has it's chosen topic/niche and should stick to it if the members want it to.

The main things are these when the need arises;

  • Those replying and pointing the OP towards a specialist new MINI forum are polite and courteous
  • Any member, no matter what they drive should be made welcome, unless they break the forum rules or the law!
  • If a member can answer, they should be allowed to without reproach

If anyone wants a full list of my reasons for keeping TMF the way it is, and TotalMini the way it is, then I'll gladly list them (although they may not like them :shy: )

I have already stated I am not bothered about there being a MINI section on TMF and have never seriously asked for one to be considered when it has been mentioned previously so no worries from me there. However I do think a little general knowledge and news of what is going on in the New MINI world on TMF helps good relations and understanding between the two groups of enthusiasts. Lkewise I often post important or significant classic Mini news and info on the New MINI forums whether or not they have a classic section for the same reasons. (TotalMINI does have a small classic section)

I therefore don't really wish to see the odd MINI news or information posts I may make relegated automatically to say General Chat for no good reason......and up to now this has never been the case and hopefully still is.

The very popular "Proof Bini's Can Look Cool!" thread (which unfortunately I did not start) has been going since Jan 2011 and is now up to 40 pages in Mini Chat and I am sure has helped promote mutual respect and understanding.

I agree, but there's no chance.

I can't believe this still happens every time a thread regarding MINIs is started.

It is a classic mini forum, the comment was only you would have more luck else where, not go away people have helped, but MINI owners seem to be very touchy at anyone saying it's recommend to try some where else and telling one person to p*** off for recommending a specific forum just for MINI is a bit ridiculous. As far a MINI specific section that wouldn't help it's like the MK1 forum having a section for my MK5. Think an admin should close this before it goes to far again

this why we need a MINI section so they dont have to go elsewhere, and no there was no rude remarks to the op just lots of internal bickering among ourselves again.

so does this place need to be renamed "the classic mini forum"?

What a joke, I came on here for advise for abuse!!
A mini is a mini? Thanks to those who helped, the others can piss off and get a life

Not very helpful really that! In fairness I don't think there is abuse in this thread. If you want to know what abuse is you should join Minitorque.com ;D

Yes but the OP said

For one person saying to try else where, it's shouldn't be renamed as it is a mini forum which is why TotalMINI and MINI2 and using capitals as they are for newer minis.

As in everything classic mini or MINI's as well I would hope the mini on the top would help and a general look at the content of it

yes but it is still a mini forum and everything minis, yes there are no pictures of the bmw mini so it should say classic minis. and its not from one person saying to try elsewhere this happens virtually once a week, if it happened once or twice it could be forgiven but obviously something needs to be done and its been debated before so there is an obvious issue here which needs to be resolved

Is has been debated loads all the outcomes were no to a MINI section yeah it happens once a week but most of the comments are saying try the proper MINI forums as the people on there maybe have more experience with them. Yes people on here have them and most of the time they help them with the problem but I don't think a MINI section is nessary and it's more work for the admin as well

so the main reason is that someone cant be bothered to add a new section? and who else does not think a MINI section is necessary maybe it needs to be voted for as i think there are more for than against

Here's the post you started to remind you of the last outcome, we don't need a MINI forum as for one the new ones are HUGE and don't resemble minis using the cooper name to sell models that aren't sporty or special in anyway and don't need the cooper name it's this that annoys me and I'm sure other classic owners and other reasons. http://www.theminifo...-section/page-2
