Hi all, about time I posted a thread, had a few fellas in 'Minis in motorsport' section asking to see a mini special.

I bought the shell as it was to save time, already cut down into a special, although it will ideally still need sills and floor work.

I am using an allspeed subframe... well half off it, I have cut that much off to suit my needs I really should have built my own, but too late to go back now.lol

I am using Vauxhall Nova hubs, standard length nova driveshafts. The hubs have been modified from macpherson to a double balljoint setup. I will let the photos say the rest, its a risky plan but I hope it will all pay off.

Reason for nova hubs and shafts is I autotest a nova already and the shafts and gearboxes are nearly bullet proof and they are standard items... Alot more tunable and reliable.

I didnt use the standard twin point subframe I got with the car, so if anyone wants to buy it give me a shout. Its been lightened but no rot.

The allspeed subframe is too low at the rear for the height I will run at the front, so this has been modified as well to sit further up nearer the steering rack.

Engine had to be moved to the passenger side to even out the shaft lengths.

looks like a great build and that engine conversion looks like it fits nicely

do you have to cut the bulkhead at all to make it fit ?

and if you could get some pics of any modifications to turn it into a special then would be a great help

keep up the good work bud

It was briefly put to the side. But im back at it, discovered the floor was worse than I thought. Years of layers of steel roughly slapped on top of one a other. Even the frame that supposed to be the main strength of the special is badly attached to shell. So ive the complete floor cut out and its all being remade. Photos to follow :-)

More photos please, looks interesting.

Have you used the Vauxhall shifter linkage, shifter cables or gone for something totally different?

Haha I see yous have seen the video. Promise I will put photos up asap. So busy with work.

As for the gearlinkage, its a rose jointed rod straight to gear selector. I run a two speed box, forward and reverse and reverse is where second gear normally is. So I have no need for a side to side movement.

After a short amount of testing. I had to totally re do the engine mounts to group 4 escort type and a nova competition rear gearbox mount. The allspeed ones are complete crap. Dont know how a road car could even be nice to drive with them fitted.
