hi guys

i need some orange hammerite for my engine. It will be in a grey car with loads of chrome bits and bobs on it as always so should set the yukon grey off nicely.

Any ideas where to get it from or a substitute ???

Halfords sell a paint called Jenolite Re-Paint, its an enamel based paint that can be sprayed or brushed on and is self leveling so you get no brush marks. I use it on my engines and suspension because its prety hard wearing and gets harder with heat. I bake the small parts in the oven to give the paint a strong finnish. Costs about £6 a litre and there are loads of colours to choose from.

Or just mix red and yellow

Frost sell proper engine enamel in orange. It isn't cheap, but then nothing at Frost is...!!

what you need to do is go down to Homebase.

Go see the paint mixing section and tell them you want them to mix you some 'Hammerite Radiator Paint'. They'll tell you the system won't let them, tell them to go into the Hammerite system on the computer and the mixing instructions are in there. Then choose from the Dulux catalogue any colour of Dulux paint that you want, and they'll mix it for you, in Hammerite Radiator Paint.

Its the best stuff for engines, its oil and fuel resistant, completely resistant to heat, and doesn't fade/peel off.

once you've got it, just prime the block with a couple of coats of red/grey oxide and put a couple of coats of the radiator paint on. It brushes on really nicely and looks great.

Here's my engine paint in Dulux 'Arctic Purple' or something like that

Hammerite colour choice

Although as hammerite don't do orange, why not yellow like i've done? B)

why not yellow?? good question. perhaps because i want an orange engine. lol

i will get some radiator paint mixed by the guys at homebase . cheers again

my engine block is already yellow. i should really clean it.

still i like the colours. the purples lovely.

I prefere the stelth look of the standard 1275 red oxide

And I hate Hammerite, just dont like the finish. Though, the rad paint may be a good thing.

Get it chromed!!!!

Then try and keep it clean!!!!!!!!!
