Copied from 16vminiforums, will update a little later

Its time I got my rear into gear and finish this, so it makes sense to start a project page!

I bought this early this year, from HARBER07 on here. Since then, aside from making a half finished exhaust manifold for it and taking the coilovers off, not a lot has gone on.

Here is a link to Harber's project page http://www.16vminicl...ead.php?t=29754

Mocking up for the inlet manifold, hopefully be contacing BoggBrothers in the new year to get one made up.

Was not really happy with the angle the top arm was sitting at with the coilovers. Also, the coilovers were directly mounted to the fibreglass! Could have made this work, but have put dampers and rubber cones back in for now.

Things that I need to get sorted next are;

  • Driveshafts
  • Inlet Manifold
  • Exhaust Manifold
  • ECU

The thing I am most stuck with at the moment is the ECU. I'm just not sure what to go for.

I know people say to go for a ECU which a local rolling road prefers, but I have not really looked into which rolling road to use yet.

Although I have been looking between MegaSquirt and VEMS. Currently leaning towards VEMS but any advice is most welcome!

Will try and update this with some more pictures when I get some work done on it!

Update;

I have got hold of a Megasquirt v2 from Phil at extraEFI. Started making up the loom so that's a start!

The ITB's have been sent off to BoggBrothers for the inlet manifold to be made up.

The drive shafts have also been sent off to be joinined/sleeved together.

Started making up an exhaust manifold using two A-series manifolds. Although I think I am going to buy a 4-2-1, 1.4 corsa manifold and modify that as it would work a lot better than this.

Almost finished modifying the drivers side door. Had a lot of trial and error with this as it is the first time I have worked with fibreglass. It is currently curing as we speak.

The passenger door skin is riveted on at the moment, so I plan to bond that to the frame just like the drivers side.

That is all there is for now, its taking its time as I work away during the week so only have a small amount of time on the weekend to work on it. I'll get there!

The doors came with the car when I bought it, so I'm not really sure where they came from.

Looking good classicspeed!

Quick update

Inlet manifold has been mounted on the engine with the ITBs

Megasquirt is wired up, except for the air temp sensor (on its way) and the wideband

Fuel pump is plumbed in and ready to go

This weekend I plan to,  get some flexi coolant hose tomorrow, connect all that up. Then weld the exhaust manifold up, then finish the megasquirt wiring. With the aim to start the engine Sunday afternoon/night.

With a bit of luck it will be turning over soon!

Hi, sorry to be a pain buy im hoping you can help me out?

Ive got a GRP mini, but a sprint rather than a minus, which also has a body chop... However im struggling for engine choice at the mo! Do you have any pics of the sump vs floor clearance, and any measurements with regards to the engine height? Also are you running 10s?

I will try and get some pictures up tomorrow, as I promised someone else last week! Just never got round to that one.

The engine is a tight fit, but it is not too bad. At the moment the car is not sitting as low as it should be, I need to modify the knuckle joints to get it to actually sit as it should! Still, some pictures should give you an idea.
