Something that could be somewhat controversial, and i'm sure many of you have clocked them.

4.5x10 BRM mini wheels

So do you guys think they should be put on a mini? I'm a huge beetle fan, and i've always thought of what it would be like to put BRM's on a mini, but now that they're here i'm not so sure. These also look a little too 'polished' in my opinion also, as usually the black section was sort of rough on the genuine speedwell ones.

However i won't lie, i am tempted.

Anyone else had thoughts on these?

I usually like unusual wheels but I am not a fan of those. They are also made by JBW of midland wheels fame. Not renowned for quality or customer service.

I think they suit the mini fine, they are a little skinny for me though.

I don't think i'd ever buy a set of the JBW ones, as I'd feel sleazy putting a speedwell centre caps on them, especially now that i know they made them for minis back in the day.

I like unusual wheels, and i like rare wheels even more. I'm somewhat of a wheel junkie, but i think now knowing that they are just copies brought back into production, i now think they have lost their charm slightly.

I think they'll always suit beetles with the cal-look more though.

(Edit: image not mini related to 'mini chat' but i think it gets the point across)

I've bought several sets of wheels from MWS and never had any problems, either with the product or the service. When their Dunlop D1 copies came out some folk said they don't sit well on the hubs but mine were a perfect fit!

That Fiesta Yellow Mk1 looks a peach...

Got to say over the years I've had several different styles and sizes of wheels from JBW/MWS and never had a problem with either the product or the way they deal with customers, I've just taken delivery of a set of rosepetal 10s from them which are now on the car.

There are a lot of issues with corrosion on almost new rims. There were also some a couple of years back that people really struggled with getting tyres on, to the point that tyres were trashed. Customer service has been commented on on here several times. I can only comment on my personal experience which was appalling. I ordered some tyres from them when they had a sale on and agreed to pick them up at a show to save on postage. I asked if they wanted payment and they said to pay at the show. I had an order number so I thought it was sorted. At the show they refused to honour the price and told me I would have to pay the price at the show (£20 more in total). I refused and rang the shop and explained, I was told it was tough luck as the sale had ended. I was amazed at the attitude from start to finish, it was 'if you don't like it, get lost'. I know of a couple more really bad examples but those people are on here so they can post up if they see this.

I love those wheels myself. They are like my favourite of the retro reproduction wheels for the mini. Speedwell ones cost in excess of 600 quid for a decent set too!
