Given what I now know from MINI owners and given that we're supposed to be MINI tolerant, it is a sensible suggestion.  Also, it does help with clarity, although BMW do not like it being described as a BMW MINI as BMW and MINI are separate brands, but let's not go there!

Yes but - MINI and Mini look different but when you say them they sound the same. As Mini was first then the other one needs another name in talking conversation (i.e. when using your mouth, as opposed to a keyboard), and that will inevitably spill over onto the written words.

I agree, it is easier in writing to differentiate, although there are some MINI owners who write Mini (without understanding the difference), so that can be tricky.  Therefore, I can see the value of adding BMW in front of it as most people would understand that we were talking about a MINI.   In Oxford it's doesn't help matters that the local paper always put Mini instead of MINI when referring to MINI despite me telling them repeatedly!

When you're speaking, you can just say new or modern, it's really not very difficult.  I have to do it regularly as I seem to end up talking about both most days.  I guess it's just a habit you get into and once you're used to it, it's easy.

Its like family members...you dont like them all but at the end of the day they ARE family

If I had the room and money I'd be buying up early BINI's they're a good future investment

Still want a GP though  :mmkay:

You'll be safe to take to the Plant.  Anything has got to be better than mentioning the 'R word'!  They were seriously unimpressed with my latest buy - I thought that they were going to send me to sit on the naughty step!

Gp's sound amazing! followed one a while back pulling out onto a national from standstill and popping on the upshifts, and was actually louder than mine!

Which one the 2006 or the 2013?

It was a 2006 model, but the 2013 also sounds very nice (not heard one at full chat like this one however)

I'm not sure where I stand on this one.

On one hand, I have no problem with chaning the filters to edit Bini to become BMW MINI, if people really are finding it offensive.  But on the other hand, it's just going to end up with us being accused of over-active censorship...again.

Constructive post time..

Rather than banning the problem as such..

Why not try to change people's opinions?

If you can show that bini owners are enthusiastic about the British engineering, rally and race heritage.. That they all view their car as homage to our car.. And that final bini owners respect our cars and that bini owns don't just search for a mini forum and ask about smelly washer fluid without looking at what the forum is.. Then and only then I will stop calling them a bini..

I like them, and will probably buy one next year.. But I will call it a bini and I will also change the badge to say bini...

Wrong section for goofing about I'm afraid.

I'll be back to clean this up later.

Meanwhile, locked.
