Just bought an italian job special edition as a project. Someone else has started the project but only got as far removing the front end. My aim is to get a smart usable mini to use for shows and days out. I've bought Genuine new panels from minimod in rotherham and Im having my local body shop do the repairs to the body and paint the car. Once the body is done I intend to overhaul the brakes and suspension on the car.

 

Heres how I bought the car.

Love it. I had exactly the same car and fitted an electric glass webasto sunroof to it. Was one of quickest standard minis I've owned, enjoy it!

Work has started! The scuttle has been cut off and repair to the air vent has been started.

Some more progress. The scuttle , Wings and front panel fitted.

 

 

And repairs started to the sill and door step.

Planning to keep the car pretty standard. Keeping all the italian job decals on it. Itsgoing to have a white roof though. Bit too green otherwise!!

Be careful not to twist the shell on those jacks while you chop snd weld chunks out if it. Keep up the good work though ;)

A little more progress! One side panelled up.

Things are moving on a bit now. The car is all panelled up and ready for the prep work for painting.There has been a repair to the roof and also dummied the grill and arches up to drill the holes before painting.

The body shop has got the shell in primer. Starting to look like a mini again!!!
