Obvious question, have you tried silicone spray on the runners?

I actually didn't have any silicone spray tried a few things to make it slippy.
Will pull the seals out today and give them a good blast with silicone spray.
Fingers crossed

Right next job was to fit the boot. It has a new seal so is a bit tight but will squish up
I fitted bolt lights which will illuminate the plate

Next up the bonnet which was easier than expected to line up. I guess because its a heritage one.

I also sorted out the wind up windows. Big thanks to NorthernPower for suggesting silicon spray. I gave
the seals a good coating before refitting. They are still slightly stiffer than should be but at least I wont be breaking winders

Need to flat and polish the paintwork next before I start fitting the remainder of parts.
Also have the arches and seam cover strips to paint

Always more to do :)

I'm pleased it worked out for you. If you can leave the windows half down and then fully down, this will expand the seals a little. Its looking good.

by the way, I had a similar problem with the window winders. Tried the silicon spray and it helped a bit but then I used a really smooth wooden leaver and applied pressure up and down the seal to push it firmly into the track. Refitted the glass and they run smooth as. The problem seemed to be that the rubber had not pushed completely into the track.

Been busy at work but making sure I get things done
Headlight bowls were too bent so got some new plastic ones and got them all fitted
Brake lights and indicators all fitted and working.
Windscreen wipers fitted. The motor struggles and wont do 2nd speed so have ordered a new one.

Had a half day off work so took it in to get tracking sorted.

6PCGZrA.jpg

Had problems with the place doing it. Lets just say I wont ever be going back. Drives a lot straighter but still doesn't feel quite right so I will get it checked elsewhere.

Decided to sort out the clutch biting point. It is close to the floor. Adjustments are all correct and it works fine just to low.
The only part I didn't replace when assembling was the arm so have ordered a new one.

Have done a few kilometers around the neighborhood and it sounds and feels good.

Still need to get the arches on and make it legal before going to far

Managed to get the new clutch arm, plunger and release bearing fitted. All adjusted up and it has brought the bite point up a little which feels much better.
There was slight wear on the ball and in the plunger and also the ball on the old one was bent a couple of mm

Also fitted the new wiper motor.

I also realized that I hadn't set up any vacuum advance on the amethyst unit. Tried settings from a standard 1275 but it didn't like that. Too much advance and would just stall.
Knocked the figures back and it seems better so might have to play with it a bit. Pulls away better.

Next job is the speedo decided to stop working. It was a new cable too. Will take it off speedo and see if it turns.

Been really busy at work but slowly finishing up the last things.
Have painted the arches and have the rears all fitted. That allowed me to get the fuel tank fitted and also the rear cards and bin liners.
Hopefully get front arches fitted this weekend
Also have door handles to fit and connect up to the central locking.

Just read through your build thread. Lovely Mini and nicely rebuilt. Love the work with the interior, engine and paintwork.
