I think that most Mini fans will have heard of the Heinz 57 Riley Elf/Wolseley Hornet cars... but how many other competitions have there been? Do you own a Mini that was a competition prize?

I'd love to enter one of these, am I right in thinking that a child won the mini at Bingley this year? :')

I have no idea who won it, or if it is still around... it would be nice if somebody on here knew of it  :proud:

The Acid Jazz label gave one away in 1994, to tie in with the release of 'Mini' by Corduroy. I found a flyer for the competition recently and wondered what might have happened to the car. And lo! From the shoebox that time forgot, an article in Acid Jazz News #11 from September '94. Car is on SORN according to DVLA - anyone's project car? :)

There's also an article on the making of the video for the song, featuring more minis. There's a really poor quality copy on YouTube if anyone's interested ...

Nope, but that looks like the actual prize car - maybe M960 JOG was just a Rover press car for the band to pose with? The plot thickens! (which was also a Galliano album title, Acid Jazz fact fans ...)

I came across another record label mini prize tie in online a while ago, from the 70s I think - will try and find it.

The reg M960 JOG appears at the beginning of the video.... (I do have the song on vinyl :) )

Hehe, hadn't noticed that, looks like a Monte Carlo anniversary edition too. I'll ask Ed at Acid Jazz about it sometime, see if he can shed any light on whether they borrowed a Rover car for the shoot. Stay tuned vinyl / mini fans :)

Hi, My son just asked me to put M960 JOG, our Monte Carlo into Google and we were surprised to find this thread. I've owned our Monte since 1999 and it is safely stored in my garage with only 28000 miles roughly. Amazed to see it in this video, didn't know about this history only that is was a Rover press car and the one used in the sales brochure. Thanks so much for sharing this info and video. :D You may see her out on the road very soon....hopefully!!

I was told by the previous owner that my 1990 Sprite was won as a prize in a kellogs Cornflake competition and the winner sold it straight back to the dealer as he wanted the cash rather than keep the car, no idea if its true but would explain why the first registered keeper only had it for a few days.
