Well, after 8-9 weeks of trying to get it in with my chosen repair bodyshop I finally gave in and said 'who is your approved audi repair shop, i just want this sorted now'

UK Carbody tried to return the car to me today - the bumper is dull and matt compared to the body, there is a 1mm deep gouge about 2 inches long on the side of the bumper and THEY DAMAGED MY ARCH!!

Not just that, but the bumper still had filler dust on it and wet stains from where it had it's final rub back and compounding!

The conversation was basically this:

Me - The paint doesn't match, it doesn't sparkle - it's more matt.

Garage - All cars have different coloured bumpers to body. We sprayed it off the Chassis Plate code.

Me: But the paint is 5 years older, you can't expect it to have suffered no effects from 5 years of sunlight'

Garage - We don't store 5 year old Audi paint, that's what you get.

Me - There wasn't a difference like this before

Garage - no, it's plastic bumper and metal car, of course it won't match.

Me - So where has the damage on the arch come from, this wasn't there before, you can check the sheet when you collected it.

Garage - We repair cars, we don't damage them.

Me - Well I am not happy with this condition.

Garage - *calls his mate over* right this'll be interesting *gets in my car, drives off.

I'm now without a car for the 4th day in a row (courtesy car on the way tomorrow) and have probably spent over £50 on phone bills, plus time that I owe my workplace who thankfully allowed me time this afternoon to ring the Insurance Co and get the Courtesy Car sorted.

What compensation can I get for 4 months of stress, financial impact, loss of social hours due to making up time at work... NOTHING.

Had same issue with direct line, my car came back 2 shades and I rejected the car 4 times. Direct Line were useless and 4 seperate engineers agreed with their approved repairer that it had been painted the correct colour. Which is all fine, but it didnt look two colours when it went in so it shouldnt now. Reject it and dont accept it until its perfect, even if it has to go to another garage to get done again, let the insurance company move the car etc

I didn't want the car to be sat in Bedminster so it is on record that the repairs are not finished, that damage has been caused and it is going to have an inspection from an independent group.

I've now noticed that the trim in the boot that is supposed to be underneath the rubber seal is actually on top of the seal which will likely allow water in.

There are also scratches on the other side of the car - but they have now polished out one side of the damage (before I got a photo annoyingly) but they foolishly left the marks that are on the other side of the wheelarch where whatever scraped it travelled about 2 foot along the car.

Also a chip out of the alloy wheel on the centre where the scrape marks travel through...

TOPPING IT OFF...

This car passed their quality control despite not having trim fitted correctly, damage to the car and *drum roll* they have broken the parking sensors in the rear bumper. Top work UK Carbody, top work.

Here we go then, the pictures:

You can see that it's not a bad paint match, but it is far more grey than the rest of the car which has a blue tinge to it:

Then there is the kerbing damage to the front wheel that is so fresh there isn't even brake dust in it despite having done at least 30 miles in their posession:

Surely this metal and the plastic surrounds are supposed to be underneath the rubber? Well, I guess UK Carbody thought that this sharp edged bit of metal was supposed to be on the outside to catch on skin, shopping bags, suitcases - the sorts of thing you put in the back of an estate.

The damage on the rear wing and bumper (inch above and below the joint)

There are also marks where the bumper was offered up and has marked the paint. Oh this is not going to go well...
