What do you use the block the guide coat back Rob just out of interest?

Im using one of these Rob  -http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1439.l2649 much better than using those little sanding blocks,

And I use these to accompany it - http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1439.l2649 again much better than sandpaper ;-)

I've gone as far as I can for now on its rear quarters and the roof and so this week I managed to get the inside of the rear stripped of all its old paint, It was a bit of a game due to it being covered in oil.

I think you will agree that it was a bit of a mess before I started on the inside,

Quite a few sanding discs later with plenty of elbow grease and it looked like this

Today I've completed stripping the rear, As the load bed had some surface rust on it due to the previous owner stripping most of its paint back and leaving it untreated I completely stripped the lot and then i covered it in Hydrate 80 rust treatment.

I shall rub the Hydrate 80 back over the weekend and get it all in primer

It has been a few days since I last updated so here is where im at after todays efforts...

I rubbed down and treated all around the window and scuttle area with some Hydrate 80 rust treatment yesterday, This should help it last for a few years ;-)

Attached File  van 18 (2).jpg   33.19K   8 downloads

After that was left for 24hrs I got back on it today starting by giving the treated areas a rub down and then its first application of primer.

Attached File  van 20 (2).jpg   48.08K   9 downloads

Also a couple of pics of the inner wings..

Attached File  van 15 (2).jpg   60.73K   5 downloads

Attached File  van 17 (2).jpg   71.35K   5 downloads

A slight repair to a hole in the o/s rear quarter panel, I further drilled it out after taking this picture to be sure I got rid of the dead stuff,

Attached File  van 22 (2).jpg   46K   6 downloads

I then got the welder out and managed to close it up, Should be sound after a skim of filler ;-)

Attached File  van prep 2.jpg   64.16K   7 downloads

Attached File  van prep 8.jpg   34.05K   4 downloads

I've just the inside of the roof to give another rub down tomorrow, The load bed I need to finish, Under the floors  Doors and the bonnet also need doing, Oh and I need to do around the dash area too,

I will then give it another complete rub down to be sure I've not missed anything and then I think that's about it for now, That's my goal for the next few days anyway  ;-)

Wasn't aware you had a van too! You have quite the collection going on haha. You're cracking through this one too, just out of interest, what supplier did you use for the paint?

Cheers Ross, I have 2 van`s mate, You can never have enough Minis lol ;-)

The paint I had from spraywell paints, They have just opened a new outlet just up the road from me in Willenhall, West Mids,

Here are a few more pictures, I've been on a role the last few days and done quite well I think.

I had a few hours on the loadbed over the weekend and managed to get it looking in much better shape. It needs a little more work but its nearly there, A vast improvement over how it looked.

Attached File  loadbed 10.jpg   34.94K   4 downloads

Today I whipped the widow screen out half expecting to find a couple of little nasty's behind its rubber but I was quite surprised to find it was totally solid and without any issues whatsoever, Not even a tiny rust patch..

Attached File  van primer.jpg   50.37K   2 downloads

Attached File  van primer 1.jpg   28.7K   2 downloads

This area then got a rub down and a coat of primer, I also did the same with the dash area too.

Attached File  van primer 2.jpg   34.64K   4 downloads

Attached File  van primer 5.jpg   61K   4 downloads

Attached File  van primer 6.jpg   30.7K   1 downloads

I also managed to rub down and seam seal behind the rear wheels today.

Attached File  van primer 3.jpg   57.49K   8 downloads

Attached File  van primer 4.jpg   49.94K   6 downloads

I`ll wait for that to go off before giving it a coat of primer

Thankyou very much mate ;-)

I'm limited at the moment to just the weekends and the odd evening as I am also currently in the process of prepping 2 other Minis for somebody else.

I reckon just a few more sessions in the garage and I should be as far as I can get with it prepping wise, I`ll update the weekend with more pictures  ;-)

Inside roof and rear doors are next on my list after I have finished the loadbed..

Hiya Derek to be honest with you mate I cant say I have come across it,

I have the little rubber seal that sits on the vent under the flap itself but I don't have a seal to sit between the roof and the vent assembly itself,

I see that Somerford no longer sell this one

I have seen others use some sort of bonding agent to form a seal between the roof and the vent, This is the route that I was thinking of taking but it would be nice to find the original rubber seal..
