So I've been playing around with my Mini since 2009, and I've been in the classic mini community since 2006. Something that has always bothered me is the lack of wheel specs. Not jus lack of people posting what size/width their wheels are, but the actual specs. Backspacing, offset, height, width, weight, etc. And what tires you are running.

Now I know that the community has a limited number of wheel choices. This isn't the Honda community and I get that. But there are definitely quite a few guys out there that know enough about their wheel investments to care about these details. I don't think there's anything more frustrating than not knowing how the wheels I plan on buying are going to look on my car or how far they will stick out of the car. If we put together a list of what wheels we have or know and at the very least their height, width, and backspacing, then life would be SO MUCH easier when it came to picking out arches and fitting them to car. If we know the width and the offset, we can pretty much tell how far out they will poke. And then you can very easily get the right flares.Yes, I realize that wheeldictionary.net exists, but it is seriously lacking in details and doesn't show any of the wheels on a car.

So can this be done? Can we start posting what wheels we have (or are out there) and their specs? Pictures of them mounted on a car?

Thanks, timmy. I know that there are some sources, and I did reference the wheel dictionary. Most of those are poor pictures, and almost no sites out there show them on a car with flares, etc.

I was hoping this could become more of a place where members post their wheels, size/specs, and then what they look like on the car and their flare choices, etc.

I think if you had a list that you must fill out e.g:

Wheel Name/Description:
Width:
Diameter:
Offset:
Tyres:
Front Brakes:
Front Spacers:
Rear Drums:
Rear Spacers:
Arches:
Available new:
Comment:

I'll put mine up as an example

Wheel Name/Description: Dunlop LP 918 Reverse Offset "Cooper" Steel Wheels.
Width: 4.5
Diameter: 10
Offset: +16
Tyres: Falken 145/80R10
Front Brakes: Drums
Front Spacers: None
Rear Drums: Flat
Rear Spacers: None
Arches: None
Available New: No, got them used
Comment: Fit very well under arch less body. No tyre outside guards. Can fit 165 tyres as well (although they stick out a little)

Wheel Name/Description: JBW/Minilight Wheels
Width: 7
Diameter: 13
Offset: -7
Tyres: Yokohama A539 175/50R13 72V
Front Brakes: 8.4" Disc
Front Spacers: none
Rear Drums: Drum with 1" built-in spacer
Rear Spacers: none
Arches: Sportspack
Available new: yes
Comment: Good, well balanced wheels. Fill the arches completely and do not hang over at all. Requires a very slight stretch on the tires. Nothing drastic or unsafe.

Maybe you could add in the width of the flares as well, sometimes it can be difficult to find the size when looking on the internet?

I've got an excel spreadsheet I've been working on too, which has all of the variables in it to calculate arch widths... I've just got to take a few measurements on my car and it should all be good.

I no longer have the Group 5 race arches, but I will post width on both sets after work.

Hi all
These were originally Saxon split rims 5x12
Now converted by force racing to 6x12
7.9 solid grooved discs
Mini sport Monte Carlo arches
Yoko 165 55 12 tyres
Unsure of offset though
I can weigh a wheel and tyre combo tommorow, these are very light
Cheers jim

Hi all
Unsure of offset though
Cheers jim

The offset is pretty much the whole point of his thread..

How to measure your offset:
1) Measure the overall total width of your rim in mm. It will be about an inch wider than the quoted size of the rim (which is measured "bead to bead"). I use a straight edge on the front and back of the rim to measure from.
13903771913_1b01e9d47a_c.jpg
In this case the total width is 150mm (which is about 6", the bead to bead distance is 5")
13903783093_a9f871a5d3_c.jpg

2) Flip over the rim and measure the distance from the outside edge to the mounting face. I use another small straight edge in the rim. This distance is also called "backspace". In this case it is 97mm
13903795253_ed05994b63_c.jpg

3) Get a calculator or get you brain into gear. Divide the total width by 2.

E.g. 150mm / 2 = 75mm. This is the midpoint of the rim

Take your backspace and take away the midpoint

E.g. 97mm - 75mm = +22 offset. If you have very wide rims you'll have a negative offset.

If this thread is going to be a good resource of information we'll all need to put in consistent information

If you can copy and paste and fill out the list that would be good
