used to be a common site with Russian ships leaving Fowey harbour

 

the crew used to buy all the Lada and Skodas going cheap in the area , then on the trip back strip them down for parts and tip the shell over the side

 

i was told they made more money in parts than the wages on ship

we used to get them where i worked, they'd walk up from the docks, go through all the scrap tyres and take a load of them back with the to the ship. they used to give us a few huge tins of the worlds strongest coffee, it was like crack!!!
