Once they have the car somewhere else I doubt the ignition and immobiliser would cause an issue, some of these cars must be going onto different V5s bought as damage repairable or just rotten and cheap, swap a few bits onto yours, pop it on the ferry and hey presto!

Funny, i was talking to a guy/ customer in essex last month about security devices on my mini . He said they used to pull the rear window out on minis to steal them! He told me to glue it in!

I was going to plant a bait car once. Although petrol and a mobile phone on vibrate with some matches glued to the back were involved somewhere lol

I travel nationwide in my job and spot minis all the time. I will keep an eye out. I saw a pickup under a sheet the other day in colchester essex on a gypsy site!

I can't believe how often this is happening.

I think it would be a good idea to place a bait car in the area with a tracker. Hopefully they would take it to a lock-up somewhere and once traced, all of the stolen Mini's would be found there.

It is obviously well organised crime so it's very unlikely they would turn up in a scrap yard or for sale unfortunately.

Perhaps other owners in the area should put up hidden cameras to try and catch the bastards or perhaps a wheel clamp would deter this type of theft.

I keep my Mini well hidden and it can never be seen from the road. In fact i doubt anyone even knows i have one in my garage! Reason being, if someone sees me restoring it, they may well wait until the job is done and then try to take it.

You just can't win these days.

Hope it's found mate.

Ben
