Just been given a fibre glass bonnet, before I go through the processes of fitting it what's like paint match like. Does the paint take differently to the fibre glass? I still want a perfect paint match

I think this would depend on the current state of the paintwork on the car.

For instance; If its a flame red mini and is the standard paint from new, a fresh bonnet will stand out like a sore thumb compared to the potentially washed out old colour.

More info would be needed i think for someone to give you a definitive answer.

I see, the colour of my car is a metallic light blue, I've had some paint mixed up to match the current colour of the car not the paint code, this is because obviously like you said the pain has faded.

You should paint the bonnet and blend colour onto the tops of the wings then lacquer them all

I had this....... Had a fibre glass boot lid awhile ago and painted it the same colour but it came out a different shade..... But only really noticed it under yellow street lights, happens a lot with new cars that have plastic body panels mixed with metal ones

Cheers james
