Exhaust Help/advice

Only thing I'm in doubts with is the exhaust. It's a 93 so needs a cat but got a piece of pipe welded in. Didn't really notice till the mot anyway.... I've got a cat and I'm planning on making an exhaust up at work on Monday/Tuesday night with stainless pipe. After having a look I've got a question what's the round box before the back box? Do I need it or can I just have the cat piped straight to the back box?

that would be the middle silencer, I don't think its an mot issue so you can leave it and go straight through from the cat, I had this set up on mine and had no issues

Indeed, my 1993 carb car has the manifold to back box link pipe, its loud :)Is yours an injection model or a carb model? If its a carb model, it doesn't need a cat as it doesn't have to pass a full emissions test
Spec is
1.75inch LCB manifold
1.75 to 2.25 Y piece
2.25 to 3 inch link pipe
3 inch rear box with twin tail pipes
