I am just after some idea of what this is worth as I have no idea of the later stuff but know my early minis quite well.

This is a one owner cooper 500 with 24,000 genuine miles. It has one bubble about the size of a 50p on passenger a panel under the paint and the same on the scuttle under the windscreen rubber. Apart from this its pretty much mint.

I have no pictures as yet as I am thinking of making an offer for it but need to know where to start. Is it £5000 or £10,000? I really don't know?

I understood the 1995 onward that the metal used was poor quality and they rusted really badly along with poor build quality as the end of the Mini was in sight?  So you might be best off to buy an older one right tidy and uptogether for the budget your talking about as an investment? Or buy a Mini Van or pickup!

If its a Cooper Sport 500, good original condition, glovebox mounted plaque, complete presentation pack and signed certificate of authenticity with that mileage £10k is about right if not more

We've owned a few and thats what I'd be wanting

Gotta be £10K minimum if, as Max and Paddy say, it has all the bits and a good history/ service history. Take a look at GC motors website - they are the only ones who have a ready supply of CS500s in stock. Granted, their prices are eyewatering and their cars stick around for literally years, but if you take into account the prices they want for cars on certain mileage and then compare to this one you have chance of it should give you a good idea on price. if you have the reg number and other details of it, the Cooper Sport 500 register would be able to help confirm if it's a genuine one

You have less idea than me lol! Its one of the last 500 one owner with 24,000 miles even I know its over £5000 but not sure if its £10,000 which the owner is hoping for I think.

The way the markets going on the late Cooper Sports never mind the 500's I'd be marketing it for £12k and wanting an absolute minimum of £10k

We sold one with similar mileage 2 years ago for that and they've increased in value since then...BUT it must tick all the boxes with the original extra's

No Presentation Pack, no Certificate seriously effects the value...thats what the collectors want and pay for

see your pound and raise a quid, I'll go £1502

But seriously for the OP, M&P is the one to listen to as he has had these cars and the money he is talking sounds sensible to me.

Around the £10,000 mark, but drop Andy a pm, he'll be able to help - http://www.theminifo...4208-hennasxi/.  He's the CS500 Registrar.

first, don't pay any premium for a 'last 500' car unless it has ALL the documentation...

There must be at least 2000 'last 500' MPi's out there... having a silver roof and poncy interior does not mean it's a 500...

but, if it's an unmolested, unwelded, one owner from new, look to budget north of 4k for a std MPi, and probably double that for a 500

Also there's an unsubstantiated rumour that the last 500 minis got JKD gearbox casings ( not machined for a 5 speed, but could be )

Andy can authenticate the Mini and he may already know it.  The CS500 Register has just found the 300th 500, so another 200 to find.

I understand that there wasn't standard contents to a goody bag, dealers made their own up, but Andy will know all the nerdy stuff!
