I made contact with the hosts of MITP recently sharing my concerns over the RWYB categories recently.
this year the categories are:
classic mini with a series
New mini with mini engine
mini with non mini engine
remembering the british mini showdown with more categories and more opportunities to win a class, there felt likethere was more variety of minis competing.
there could be opportunity for more classes in 2015 but not shared how many and thought i would share the opportunity here on tmf
also i suggested certificates instead of trophies so this could be kept/sold with the car but wasnt pishing this part as hard as the RWYB topic.
is there a shared feeling amoungst this tmf community?
I made a list of 7 proposed categories if this topic gets some interesti am happyto share and get feedback on this list

I think your wasting your time. Santa pod has been run like this for years and are not about to change the way it runs on a whim of a small group of people.
The last 3 years I've been with my engine conversion Mini. I'll never win my class as the amount of money some people put into it I just don't have. Stuart Mead's has over £100,000 in his £500 Mini and runs around 10 seconds. I have £3000 in mine and is fast enough running 14's.

I have it agreed in principle to have additional groups from 2015 with the event organisers - only had to ask.
Groups provisionally agreed for next year are:
A series Naturally Aspirated Classic Mini
A series Forced Induction inc. Nitrous Classic Mini
Non Mini Engined Classic Mini Classic Mini
New Mini
New Mini non New Mini engine
Non Road Legal inc. running slick tyres
Bringing some of the groups of the British Mini Showdown into MITP from 2015

The only thing that really peed me off last year was that you pay your money to go on the track at this particular event and i must have gone down the track at least 13 time so value for money for sure
BUT
litterly i got lined up only 5 times FIVE with another classic mini, the rest were modern minis, that’s fine, but if I wanted to see a modern mini I would go sit in a supermarket car park -___-
there needed to be more effort put into lining classics with classic and modern with modern minis up
though I understand that the santapod crew are under pressure to get as many down as poss as quickly as poss

I think you can ask to race against whatever you want...if you don't want to line up against a modern mini just either ask in the queue or arrange a little 121 battle before queueing. I have seen people moving out the way in the past so they can have some battles up the strip

So what if your next to a new mini, unless your getting pissy because its going to leave you? So what, there's always going to be someone faster. Just enjoy it.
