Hi

How far round is it supposed to go when you are closing it up. I've just fitted a kit to refurb it and the only thing I didn't take a photo of was how far closed it had to go.

I am about as far as I can go without bending the bolts so hence my question. You can see how far I have got.

Thanks,

Rod

I think it's supposed to turn until the edge touches the raised profile on the inner piece, but I'd have to go and look at mine to be sure. I think you may not have the inner part pushed deeply enough into the outer to allow it to rotate.

thats what I wondered, but the rubber diaphragm sits on the inner edge so thats whats stopping it. I don't see how to make it go in or down further. anyone got a picture of theirs?

I found it much harder to put back together than take apart. As you say the studs start to bend.

In the end I made a tool to do it. I bolted the plate to the servo and clamped in the vice and then used the handle on the other end. Could not have done it without it.

If its not fully together the reservoir will not sit level when fitted to the car.

yeah I was arriving at the point where I think I need to make something.

I am now at the point where I have it together but just can't close it enough. I just can't believe its just force that's required.

Also, how much movement do you have in the actuator rod? Once the locking tab is in place it has a very small movement and that results in zero movement in the rod that is attached to the other side that joins with the Master Cylinder.

I am sure it is how I took it apart but I just don't see how the thing works.

Thanks,

Rod

Sorry I can't remember how much movement there was in the actuator rod. It was a while ago.

But, I too was surprised how much force was require to close the parts fully compared to taking them apart, but once i made a tool it turned relatively easily.

If you get stuck or don't have the equipment to make a tool let me know and I'll put mine in the post to you.

Spot on Dan, I forgot about that, I did use rubber grease and it still required a lot of force. Doubt you could put it together without it.

I used the white silicon grease that comes with the kit. perhaps I need a bit more but can anyone else comment on how much movement there is meant to be in the actuator rod? The actuator rod itself moves a couple of millimetres and it doesn't seem right. I know that was how it was when I took the thing apart but I can't understand how the servo works like this.
