Looks like there was quite a bit of filler on that bumper lip?

Good job with that. Good to see you cut out the crusty bits as that will help to make it last longer.

Just some red paint on it now then and you are good to go!

Nice one :-)

This is the trouble with that area, moisture gets in between the 3 sections and it just rusts away unseen because of the bumper. Can't always be seen from inside either due to the seam sealant in the boot. When you do get it sorted (just keep an eye on it now could last ages as it is) make sure the seam is completely plastered inside with zinc primer and  sealed with seam sealant. Keep that dreaded moisture n rust away.

Its not just the inside you need to seal, the external seams need some on as well.

Yes I was meaning inside as in inside the seam (both inside and out and underneath). Cleared up the point though !!!

Hello Tms1001,

Looks like a good solution.

What did you use to trim off the badly corroded bits? The cuts look pretty clean.

Seeing your thread made me check mine and the valance is in a similar condition to yours.

Regards

Mike.

I used an angle grinder with an abrasive disk and just kept going until I got all the flakey stuff out of the way.  Then treated it with Loctite Rust Remedy.

Thanks for your reply.

I probably do something similar with mine.

Regards

Mike.
