I don't think that will get through the 82 dB limit recommended by the BMFA for model plane engines.

Credit where credit is due it is a fantastic bit of engineering but it does seam to be rather weak as an engine. I've seen propellers bigger than that being swung by single cylinder strimmer engines used in RC planes

I know someone with a Meteor engine on a test sled purely for taking to shows and firing up

He does have a couple of other running engines, one of which already destined for a rolls royce chassis

I want to be able to fit it in my plane and fly it so if there is something that is quieter and more powerful yet lighter I will go for that instead.

awesome, one of mates has loads of weird stuff. He used to work at the motorcycle museum in Brum, he has a Merlin sat in his garage on a pallet. He has no idea why he bought it, but you don't really need a reason to own such things.

air cooled vw cylinders aren't light things. That engine must be the weight of an A series at least. What sort of plane were you thinking of putting it in? Must be a beast.

It wouldn't fit in any of my planes. I run small 0.4 Cubic inch glow engine (aka 40's). My RC planes are around 50 inch span.

It just looks for the size of propeller it is running to not be that powerful. There are much small and lighter engines on the market or even converted chain saw and strimmer engines that could swing that propeller easy enough and be fitted in an, all be it fairly large (3rd scale pits etc), RC plane.

Still cool though and credit to his engineering skills.
