Hi I am interested in getting a replica Smiths 130mph speedo from here:

http://www.minispare...|Back to search

but it has been geared for a 3.44 drive, my mini will have 3.105 - anyone know what speedo drive gearing I would need for the conversion?

thanks

There's no definitive answer. There are two gears in the gearbox and you need the right combination of those two that with your wheel/tyre size and diff ratio will give however many turns per mile the speedo wants.

Looks like the TPM for the speedo is printed on the face under the 10ths of a mile digit. 1257? 1267? something like that.

10 inch wheel, with 165/70 tyre if that helps.

Surprised no one has told you to put your details in on the 'guessworks' page. It will tell you exactly what you need.

I would drop minispares a question about the tpm of the speedo, you can then work out which speedo drive gears you will need for the gearbox. This is the only proper way to do it. You may be able to find someone who can change the tpm of the speedo itself but this is the harder of the two options imo.
