Oh i hate the BIni badges  :X

The original R50 MINI prototype had the earlier type winged Mini Cooper badge at the 1997 MINI launch preview by Rover.....if you look carefully in the videos below.

It seems weird seeing them referring to it as a rover!

My Grandson found an original 'MINI-MINOR' badge from an early 60's 850 and fitted it to the boot lid of his 1997 Cooper MPI. He also fitted an original Morris badge to the bonnet. With its Mk.1 grill & grill surround and the wheel arch extensions removed it did look very 'retro':

But that's what it was, at least the first generation R50 ones. I still chuckle to myself when people refer to it as a "German car".  Designed by a Canadian exiled Brit, built in Oxford from bits pressed and fabricated all around the Midlands, and originally with a Chrysler Engine.  German eh ??

I think your mini looks great. I would say a "mini"and a " cooper " writing badge would look nice on the rear. The s bit is the thing to avoid.

I used script badges for the boot of my RSP.  It think it might look a bit odd with the later number plate light but I like it with the MK1 hinged plate holder and light.

A bit off topic..but you might also like this old thread linked below if you missed it first time around, with more details and photos of the then 'Rover' R50 New MINI.

I quite like this option ie Mini Cooper script rather than the Austin Cooper S, as suggested above the S is the thing to avoid.  This badges the car rather than pretending to be a cooper S, i guess this is the thing that was bothering me which prompeted this post.  But as someone else said the script conflicts with the later number plate light which i have no immediate plans to change.

I must admit i dont like the winged bonnet badges on the boot, as this came it later than my car.

I was thinking of going with the laurel leaf sticker as its original to my car, which is cheap option to try, just not retro enough.

My '90 Cooper had lost it's original laurel decal on the boot and had it replaced with a much later green 'Mini' winged badge. I could see the outline of the original graphics on the paintwork, so bought a replacement laurel and think it looks very smart. And at 24 years old, pretty retro to some people :) Plus, as Minidizzy mentioned, was only on the RSP and Mainstream models for about a year.

If I was going for a winged badge replacement, I'd be tempted by the new style Cooper logo - different from the red conversions logo of the 90s : http://www.coopercar...nged-badge.html
