After about a year of near constant illness / medical set backs I'm finally in a position to start firing on a new project.

Owning a saloon for a few years taught me that it's too small, once I include the wheelchair into the equation, for anything but smallish trips.

So new plan is get an estate and make it epic.

In lieu of this, I have to part with Ogy. I'd rather do it as a 'finished' complete car but if needs be I guess he could become a pile of parts.

So I turn to the learned ones on here for some info.

Car details:

1994 1275 Automatic Saloon.

Currently minus an engine, this is because I have no idea the approximate sale cost of with one plus MoT / Tax compared to without - it may not be cost effective to bother finding one given the relative disinterest in automatics.

Okay, so here's the fancy bits list which I'll add too as I remember more of them I'll try and do it front to back for ease of my memory.

  • Solid shell, no welding needed for a long time to come any hint of the brown stuff removed with prejudice and replaced.
  • Debumpered - front and back
  • Tubed arches
  • Rear 3 windows tinted - rear dark smoke, side windows limo black
  • All "brightwork" is coated black
  • Custom Grill
  • Rear window louvre
  • Smoked rear lights
  • Cibie H180 headlights with independent, uprated, fused power coated in Lamin-X lens protectors
  • New windscreen and seals front and rear
  • Custom consoles dashboard with 3 gauge cluster (box of gauges included for choice) and 2 dial speedo
  • Intermittent wiper system fitted
  • KJB Drop bracket (Laser cut, tig welded. Not alloy)
  • Mountney 12" wheel
  • New carpets throughout
  • New black headlining
  • Carbon wrapped interior mirror
  • Tex wing mirriors
  • Alloy interior handles
  • 6.5" components in under-dash aperiodic pods
  • Drivers side rear pocket sub enclosure (18L volume) with 10" aperture
  • MG ZR front seats on custom subframes
  • Newton rear seats
  • Rear shelf board
  • Fully mass loaded front to rear with increased deadening/dampening in the cabin area to reduce road noise
  • Fully adjustable geometry kit front and rear - Minispares kit.
  • Gaz lowered dampers all around
  • Minitastic "Fast Road" coil spring conversion with adjustable alloy trumpets
  • 10" Revolutions
  • All bushes, basically anything rubber and perishable is new of 1 year ago
  • Refurbished rear subframe
  • Uprated earth and main power lines
  • Hi output battery
  • I'll throw in the Stormforce cover too - won't fit an estate

Think that's about it off the top of my head, if anything else springs to mind I'll update.

If anyone has some idea what the value would be both running as an auto with tax & test and without as a ready to go conversion that would be super duper.

Cant seem to put a value on it, but im instantly swayed to say its worth more in bits. I hate saying it, but it would appear that way and when you "break" a car theres always bits you end up stuck with.

If I were to break it, I'd probably keep some of the parts for the next build which would allow more freedom to look for just a bare shell.

I'd hate to pull him apart though :(

Having been around this mini, seen it driving around and even being present for its first journey after a long loving restoration. I would have to say it is priceless. Why are you even thinking of getting rid of OGY!!!!!

He is pretty damn cool, I admit (cheque is in the post ;-) ) But with the wheelchair taking up a ton of space a saloon isn't practical except for a single passenger and I usually have to account for 2 or at least some luggage.

So better to pass Ogy onto someone else for fun and frolics and I'll build something bigger to suit me.

I would say running with t&t around the £3k mark.
With no engine... £1100-£1600......

I love this car too, followed the build religiously.

I wouldn't break it. I've seen cars in really bad condition going for 1k + I recogn if you put it up for what it owes you. Just a guesstimate around 3grand? Maybe more someone will bite your arm off for it. It would take to long to break and get what It owes you. But If you wanted to swap and sell a few bit I call dibs on the rear window valance!!! :D ;) haha

Cheers, fellas.

Given the difference running to not I'll keep a look out for an engine to drop in, if the difference was smaller I'd not bother but for that much it's worth the time.

Might put it up on the 16v forum, could be ideal for someone wanting to make a valver.

Ah but that's a manual engine and ancillaries plus fitting and adapting, plus DVLA changes. It's work on a project I no longer want to be working on.

In all frankness, I'm not looking for a profit. I'd like to recoup some of value of the parts fitted and a cursory amount for the solid shell but realistically as long as it allows me to buy the new one I'm not super bothered.

I've just got out of hospital and will be going back in within the next few months for another operation, that will have recovery after. So my time to work on the car is limited hence the choice to either drop another auto in or sell as a ready to convert shell.

Would you consider selling the rear window louvre? :)

Not unless I was to break the car, but that would be the absolute last resort.

Hi Oggy,

Just something I migth aswell ask, is can you not convert your mini to house a wheel chair as the drivers seat, sort of a similar idea to the MPV's that are converted for access to the rear and have a ramp or lift with checquer flooring, then the wheelchair rolls up and clamps into the drivers position as a seat!

Just thought it might make for an intresting idea and project whilst allowing you to keep the mini.

Cliff
