Very sorry if this has been asked before but how would one wire in a new piece of kit, in this case central locking and alarm, into the fuse box. As far as I'm aware there are a couple of spare slots on my 1996 spi because of Japanese gear. But how do you physically do it? Thanks for your help.

You should have on the 24 fuse box car UK spec

19 20 Not used
20 15 Not used
21 10 Not used
22 20 Not used
23 Not used

Not sure if the Jap spec is the same? but look into where the blade fuse fits and see if you have 2 terminals, I doubt you will have as you usually have the feed either switched or live and a empty space where the circuit is empty. so you need to have the correct small terminals to solder onto your new circuit wiring, then pop it into the box and insert the fuse and onto the additional component.

If you do have the 2 contacts but no fuse identify which is the live feed in and the other side will be your wiring out to your circuit on the alarm.

Or make a new feed from the starter solenoid main wiring take off and fuse it accordingly.

I see. So will I need to buy something to fit in the empty fuse holes? Mine isn't Jap spec, I just read that some fuse boxes have empty slots for stuff supplied to Japanese buyers. Here's a pic (sorry this is the only one I have I me).

19 has something in it. I think it's for a 12 volt socket. Others are free but don't have connectors in them. Can I pick these up at Halfords or similar and push them in?

Ace, I'll go and measure. So will I have to wire in a live connection from the car to one side and then wire out the alarm on the other?

There maybe a common feed on the rear of the fusebox you can use then through the fuse and onto the alarm
