There's been a long standing joke at the garage about my collection of cars. I never really gave it much though until tonight after coming back from collecting another one.

The longest standing member is my Clubman estate. It was going to be a quick respray and engine rebuild but it now has a full custom boot floor, metro rear seat and will eventually have a 1377 supercharged lump.

There's also a MK1 MG Metro Turbo, once rebuilt it'll be longterm toy.

The ugly duckling is the 1300 Allegro, this one will be sold eventually.

I recently acquired a '72 with a 1275, twin carbs and S discs that my primary school teacher used to drive to school.

And the latest addition is this fantastic 1300 Countryman. It's got an auto in it at the moment which I'm tempted to swap for a tasty pre A+ 1275 but it'll do for now.

Jay Leno once said you can never have enough classic cars, just garages. Not he has to worry with that monster garage of 800+ Cars

Standard classic car owner system: buy car, strip down, buy another to keep you going while you redo the first, strip that and buy further car to tide you over, repeat until you run out of a, money, b, space, c, useable testicles following hassle from the other half.

I've got 3 motorbikes and 2 cars and only one usable testicle (the other one is there for looks only)

I'd better sell something

Love the countryman
Saw it on eBay and wanted it straight away

Being 20 and at home with a big family means there are 8 cars to park
I already have 2spaces out of 4 on the drive
The rest clog up the road

Mom would kill me if I bought another car so I have to refrain

Metro turbo another car I'd love to own

Allegro estate is awesome too

What's next? :P

Thanks guys, you've got me thinking about bikes now. I recon I could swap 5 cars for at least 30 bikes.  :shifty:

Blimey!

You love the Allegro don't you.

I haven't had chance to get on it yet but I'll post some pictures when I do.

Jay Leno once said you can never have enough classic cars, just garages. Not he has to worry with that monster garage of 800+ Cars

He might be onto something there. I guess I need to start working on my comedy and presenting skills so I can afford more room.

I haven't decided whether or not I'm keeping this one yet but there were a couple rust holes on the N/S wing and the paint is really flat so I'm diving in. I'm also fitting new door skins, A-panels and a sill.

IMG_6945_zpse2eb3d92.jpg

The engine and subframe are out so I can get a decent paint job in the engine bay.

IMG_6949_zpsdff6c3bd.jpg

I ordered a pot of MOWOG green for the engine as well, it should look nice and retro.

Both doors need the bottoms replacing and the skins doing so I've started chopping.

IMG_6962_zps3fd3805e.jpg

Shinny new magnum repair panel welded in.

IMG_6963_zpsf4344e7d.jpg

I linshed the welds down but didn't go crazy with it and painted a load of zinc primer on. It's skinned now as well.

IMG_7006_zps09ed633c.jpg

Sadly someone welded a cover sill on a some point so I attacked with the the angle grinder.

IMG_6953_zpsa68bb581.jpg

I had to chop a pretty decent lump out of the inner sill as well, it's amazing just how much rot a cover sill can cause!

IMG_6978_zps0c430fb3.jpg

I made a new inner sill section and zinc primed the section that I wont be able to get at later.

IMG_6976_zps12a5d557.jpg

Then I got to spend a while catching mig splatter in my hair as while I welded it in.  >_<

IMG_7008_zps341adb3f.jpg

There's finally a proper outer sill on it now.

IMG_7012_zps795522ae.jpg

The end of the step sill had suffered the dreaded tin worm so I made a new section and welded it in.

IMG_7016_zps000e550b.jpg

IMG_7024_zps6e08f9a3.jpg

The lip that the A-panel wraps around was rotten so I modified an old repair panel and got it clamped up.

IMG_7037_zps2654270a.jpg

It's coming along nicely.
