This is a nice build thread. Your clubby estate looks in such original condition.

Whoops, not for long!
But why? Surely all the planned changes are reversible, if you wanted to take it back to that look?

Anything is reversible if you want to do the work, Don't worry he's not sticking a body kit on it and painting it pink or anything that mad ha.

Surely you will need to drill holes in the bodywork to fit the rear roof spoiler and bonnet scoop?

So although I've not updated this I've had the car back for a while now, it's had the majority of the brake lines replaced and all hydraulics have been bled, and everything is now suitably bedded in.

I was supposed to be using the car for a navigational rally a weekend or two ago, I'd drove the car to work the previous day to give it a run out prior to the event, then as I filled up that morning the car wouldn't start! thumbsdowngraemlin.gif upon investigation the points weren't opening, time to get rid of those then!

With the electronic ignition fitted I've been concentrating on getting the car running as sweet as possible with the help of Geoff and Mike :D

Here are a few photos from another thread Ross posted recently, but I want to keep track of everything in here, so here they are again...

That is how the car sits currently, in the New Year plans are full suspension refresh, shocks, cones, bushes etc. then at some point get the arches fitted :)

I'll be giving the car a good clean tomorrow then heading to Brooklands on New Years Day, so hopefully I'll get some more photos then :D

So it's been a while since I've updated this, but I've started a small suspension refresh, just basic stuff, cones, bushes etc. nothing too major!

And then this is where it all went wrong... Well not wrong, but the job just got bigger as they normally do with these cars!

So the subframe had to come out really, great! Likely to be more sheared bolts and what not...

Nope! Straight out first time! Easy Peasy! However...

I'm assuming this is repairable? I'm reluctant to buy a new subframe because I plan on doing a proper restoration in a year or two's time.

Is that just surface rust or is it cracked?

Crap... Is the estate rear subframe different from the standard sedan and if they are, how difficult is it to find a replacement?

Can a subframe be welded back together and is it safe to do that?

They're the same so it's not too bad.

I'm pretty sure it can be welded, it's not the most structural of parts and any welding I do will probably make it stronger if anything!

Well I guess, since it is off the car anyway, you can tidy it up properly and make it safer too :)
