After 14 years on the road, my MPI is looking rather tired.  It's still got an MOT, but the rust is there in all the usual spots (go round the car up to bumper level and you'll find some on most panels).  I've got some funds aside and am thinking it's time for a proper job to be done.  I know this isn't going to be cheap, but I want a decent job done that will last.

I'm now getting some quotes.  North West Minis in Glossop were very helpful, but couldn't show me an example of their work.  Does anyone have any experience of them?

I'm also getting a quote from Winsford Body Shop and another from Mini Sport in the next few weeks.  Again, if anyone has any experience, please let me know!

I live in the centre of Cheshire (Northwich), so would appreciate any local recommendations.  Also any advice on questions to ask / things to look for would be very welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

David

I own about 8 copies of mini magazine and they either have a feature car or are mentioned in at least 6 of them. They were the only established company were someone hadn't questioned their work or service. They use a paint shop next door they are also in mini magazine and I was very impressed by their work. However I would suggest you go and see them as my mini isn't booked in till January so I can only base my opinion on what I have seen rather than what I have experienced. I also went to Denty and Scratchy (Ellesmere Port), Winsford Bodyshop, and a few other body shops in the area and a few people who repair minis in there spare time. I can give you some numbers if you PM me :)

That's my mk2 on the mini restoration company linky.

We're not finished yet but I'm really happy with how Jason runs his business and keeps me up to date.
He's a perfectionist and it shows in the work he does. Can't wait to get my car out of prep and into colour.
One happy customer (I'm not related to Jason or owt like that either. Just pleased with the work on my car.)

Nick, drop me a PM if you have any questions

I'd recommend Jason at the mini resto company, in Rainford..

I've seen his work and is very particular.

Being in the trade myself I know when someone knows what they are doing..

Thanks guys - appreciate the feedback.

Jason - I'll be in touch in the next few days (I'm just up the road from Tatton, so it's a pity I couldn't have made it there today!).

Carvell - have also PM'd you for contact details.
