Going to uni this september,

car is mot'd and taxed till october.

insurance runs out next year

i am not taking the car to uni as parking space costs millions of pounds a year.

the car will be stored off the road and not driven.

also selling my beloved mini isn't really an option as i would like to keep it for years to come.

am i still insured if the mot runs out and the car is sorn?

will i still earn a ncb?

Yes, but check with your insurance company as some are funny about cars without mots, but in your situation it shouldn't be a problem

Some insurance companies also provide cover for cars that are of the road as for example for restoration, think it's called something like laid up insurance. It is cheaper because the risk of accidents on the road are removed but doubt it would attract no claims bonus.

just make sure you give them a quick call and explain. Tell them you want a note added to your policy that way there is no arguing if anything happens later.
