Would it be okay for me to come along to this?
I'm in Rotherham so not too far away. I've had my Mini for years but it's only recently been on the road proper after having some restoration work. I've never been on a run or anything like this before so I'm not too sure but with it coming to the end of the season I wondered if this might be a good chance to get out and have a go before the winter.
How does it work? Is the idea to travel in convoy or do we make our own way around and meet at stops on the way? I'd be on my own in the car and I can't drive and map-read at the same time.

Welcome! Of cause you can do the more the merrier.
And the idea is we meet up at one point, then all convoy on a hugely indirect rout to a pub. For insurance reasons, officially it isn't a convoy, but it is XD
The idea is to look after the car behind, so to check that he has seen you make that turning, obviously not always possible though We normally manage to keep together quite well, but if you can a spot quite close to the front, you will be fine. Also we pull over and wait for people to regroup if we get split up at roadworks etc, also ill give you all my number in case you fall behind and get lost, I know the area well and can direct you. Id recommend printing both of the documents above, and bringing with you. But you will be fine, don't worry :)
Some of you know me, some of you wont, ill be wearing a black leather jacket, and have long hair, and will be driving a white and Metro S, come say Hi before we set off! :)

Yes I went on the last one and although it isnt a convoy, it is! many people were on their own in the car and a few times we were split by red lights, junctions ect and the rest of the convoy ahead stopped until we were together again, I never needed to look at the map although probably useful to bring just in case.

Sounds good! Although now I'm more worried about being responsible for someone else getting lost than getting lost myself!
All being well I should be there at the start but I'll write on here if I can't make it.
Mine is a '94 Sprite, red with black roof and 10" wheels.

Hi all,
Just a reminder that the event is tomorrow, All the details of the run are on the rout plan which can be found on the following link, this is an updated version, i had made a slight mistake on the original rout plan, not on a turning but on a reference point, so use this plan over the others:
https://docs.google....dit?usp=sharing
Please come with a FULL tank of fuel as it is an 85 mile run, if you would like a drink at the start or end point and are usually ID'd then remember your id and of cause some money ;) BRING THE ROUT PLAN!!!! and id recommend a satnav in-case you get hopelessly lost (shouldn't happen though) and you can put in the end point. A packed lunch should be brought as we will be stopping for dinner at a beauty spot of the Derwent damn, (famed for the bouncing bomb testing).
Don't forget the start point IS NOT THE PUB CAR PARK! but the LAY-BY NEXT TO IT.
Its not too late for others to come! all are welcome so drag others along!
See you all tomorrow at the lay-by near the moorlands pub.

¬_¬ yet another little tweak, annoyingly ive just found out that the monsol head/cressbrook road is closed for a cycle race. SO on your printed rout plan cross out all steps between Litton and Ashford (where the cricket field is). Here we may if needed go strait through Litton, turning right at the bottom of the road, then right again just before the abandoned petrol station, this will then eventual lead to Ashford where we pick up our original rout.
Sorry for the annoyance, James.
