In the next few weeks my mk2 will be back together. It's a fairly standard thou with a hot 998, s discs and d1's.

I used to use it for 12 cars and scatters but it's going to have decent paint this time. I wondering about autosolo and hill climbs. What do I need to know?

You should be able to get away with running it in one of the road going production classes in sprints/hillclimbs (you'd need to check the MSA Blue Book to check on the discs, but as Mini's had so many permutations as standard even if they weren't 100% legal for your particular model I doubt you'd ever have any problems - on line Blue Book is here : http://msauk.org/sit...sp?article=1176 ). In those classes you don't need to do anything to the car as long as it's taxed, MOT'd & insured other than put some yellow tape on the battery negative earth & mark the ignition switch on/off.

You do need an MSA National B non race comp. licence, & approved helmet, fireproof suit & gloves. Most people go for fireproof boots too but they're not mandatory. You'll probably need to join the organising Motor Club of your first event, but if subsequent events are part of the same championship you'll usually be able to use that membership for those. Otherwise you'll likely again have to pay the organising clubs membership fee (usually only about a tenner)

PS hillclimbs & sprints are great fun & very adictive!

There is also road rallies (daytime historic or night) again you only need to carry warning triangle, spill kit, put yellow tape on the earth lead and it is recommended to carry a first aid kit.

No need for a roll cage under the rules just a Nat B non race comp. Licence.

I would strongly recommend a sump guard though.

For autosolo. Just yellow tape the earth. And be a member of one of the invited clubs. No licence or safety gear required. Open to any production road car. Tuning and modifications allowed as long as not lightweight panels and then there is usually an anything else class to run in. Best place to start is asking your local motor club or google Go Motorsport.
