I did manage to go and look and it was very nice, just as it looked in the pictures. Very solid underneath, under the carpets it looked as new (from the areas I could get a look at). There was a tiny hole around the FL wheel arch and a bent bit on one side of the bonnet but not that bad. The engine and other bits under the bonnet didn't look great, there were a lot of rusty bits but wouldn't know how much work it would have needed to get it going. Took a few pictures of the engine, I could upload them if anyone's interested.
I wasn't able to attend the auction so I left a bid of £2K. Have to say I was a bit shocked (or perhaps just gutted) to see it had gone for £5k. I suppose when people are asking £3-5K for bog standard 80s/90s examples with rust in 'the usual places' then perhaps £5K is a bargain for a solid, original, low mileage, tax exempt classic.
Was still worthwhile looking at one up close and seeing what it went for, should give me a better idea of price next time.
