HI,
im new to the forum but not mini's. Started with a mustard yellow clubman when i was 16, learnt a few things but never got it on the road and crushed it (going back 14yrs so dont shoot me). Had a racing green 998cc mildly tuned when i was 17 which i blew the engine on, so rebuilt the 1275cc metro lump id kept from the clubman into a 1330 and moded the mini loads. Sold it, had a 206 for a while (again going back 12yrs) then had a rover cooper mpi. Crashed it into a curb on black ice sold it off. Owned a large number of modified jap imports. Currently have a toyota aristo as a toy but will soon be selling up as i fancy another mini :D

Didnt have forums really when i had my mini's, so thought id join up for inspiration :)

Cheers
Tom

Hello Tom welcome and welcome to the forum, nice to have you on board. Do you have a particular mini model in mind your aiming for?

Thanks mate. Not really to be honest. My 1330 was my first proper car, bought for me by my late father so if i could find that car (long shot i know) then id buy it in a second! My younger brother has an old austin mini shell sat in my sisters garage. Might just build that back up. Im really not dead set yet. A cheap donor and his shell my be my best bet though. But i have alot of ideas and experience of modified mini's, but alot better skill now im older and have owned so many moded cars. I dont send cars to garages and my best mate is a mechanic/welder/fabricator by trade :D

Hello and welcome, was there huge difference in power between your 998 and the bigger engine? Which did you prefer?

Massive to be honest mate. The 998 was a nippy fun and spirited engine. The 1330 was a torque monster that tried to kill me sevral times with torque steer lol. Back then (12years ago) parts where expensive still and so a diff was a dream object. Where as now they are more afordable. It ran je pistons and swiftune cams with light weight duplex timing chain. Wasnt much else done to it over the stock 1275 components but it was a hell of alot faster and more powerfull than a 998 and was faster than my mpi rover sports pack cooper was. Ill be going for a bigger bore engine this time too as i dont want nippy i want power. All the jdm stuff i have had has been between 180-400hp.
