Hi guys and gals, just a quick question, I've been searching about back priming the oil pump.
I'm unsure wether I undo the banjo bolt from the block and put oil in the block hole and turn engine backwards or put oil down the pipe going to the filter and turn backwards??

From searching I've heard different options but need it clarified as to which way it should be done?

Thanks Greg

undo the banjo bolt, this way you see whats happening and can add oil as it is taken op by pump.

remove the banjo bolt at the block, fill the hole in the block with oil put the car in second gear (remove the spark plugs for ease) and either push the car backwards or jack up the car and turn the wheels backwards, you will see the oil being drawn into the block. Keep topping up the oil in the hole until your sure the pump has plenty of oil then reasemble. Now with the plugs removed and taking the car out of second gear (i.e Neutral) spin the motor on the starter watching for oil pressure ideally on a guage this may take up to a minute. Do not allow the engine to fire until you are sure it has good oil pressure. Lastly a final check for any leaks.

You just pull the lead of coil turn engine over till oil pressure is there and you should always fill the oil pump when fitting it

Trouble was it was an old engine that hadn't been started for some time so just cranking it wasn't getting any oil pressure, but after doing the above it all worked
