Hi there,

I have a 2000 Cooper sport with the rear shelf speakers and I was wondering if there are any speaker wire adapters which means that I can just plug in and play? I dont really want to be cuttings wires. Also anyone recommend any good replacement speakers?

Many thanks

Paul

You can easily un-solder the wires from your existing speaker and solder them on the replacement speakers you go for.

or just get a second set from one of the breakers on this forum and take the wires/plugs from those.

As for recommendations knowing a budget would be a start point. Also whats wrong with the stock speakers in your opinion that you think aftermarket speaker will resolve?? I take it you are just using the stock headunit?

Sounds like an idea, I just want a bit more clarity in the sound to be honest! I have a upgraded  Blaupunkt one, would be willing to spend about £100 if they are really worth it. Have you changed yours?

Ruckus is the main man when it comes to car audio.

A decent set of coax speakers in the back will sound better but a set of comps would be best. Also putting the speakers up front makes a big difference but isn't practical for some.

Ruckus will be back and will answer all your questions :D

OK so my recommendation is not to do what you have planned.

Leave the rear were they are (we will come to them later).

Go for something like these http://www.caraudiod...alpine-spg-17cs or these http://www.caraudiod...ution-tr650csi.

But also get these http://optauto.easys...SP/AP/6.5-0001"

And install them where they should be ... in front of you. :)

The tweeters can go in the corners of the top dash rail aiming across the car.

Then the rears if they are a Coaxial simply cut the wires to the tweeter part and run them are low end only...

oh and have i changed mine? LOL you might say that...

One thing i would recommend if you go for the OA pods, is to not bolt them to the dash rail but get some stainless bolts and use 3 or 4 per side and bolt them through the kick panel.

MUCH more solid and helps with the bass output of the mid.

Oh and you might want to have a read of the Audio 101 that pinned at the top of the section. :)
