I have reported it, and suggest anyone else who reads this does the same.

Even if eBay do remove the listing, it really just stops the V5 from being sold on that forum on this occasion. From what I understand the DVLA monitor V5 sales on places like eBay, and if the listing shows the reg or VIN no, they can investigate and take action against both the seller and the buyer, once the sale has taken place and they attempt to transfer the V5 into the new keepers name.

If anything, by reporting the listing to eBay your actually preventing the illegal activity from taking place so publicly, and for those involved from being detected by the authorities. Removing the listing from ebay is unlikely to deter those looking to buy/sell V5's, it just means that they will go on to buy and sell them elsewhere and undetected. All you're really doing is making it more difficult for DVLA to catch them at it and helping eBay get off the hook for their part in an illegal transaction. It would probably be more effective to report the potential sale to DVLA for them to investigate, than to report it to eBay and stop it taking place there.

It actually amazes me that anyone would buy a V5 on eBay like this and then try snd assign it to another car, because the evidence of what you're doing has been displayed all over a public forum for anyone to see and use against you. You'd have to be mad to do it, but then I suppose we do live in an age where criminals publicly boast on Facebook about the crimes they've committed, and then wonder why they get caught!

Not sure on a DVLA addy, but I believe that you can report it to the vehicle fraud unit at the ACPO Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service

[email protected]

http://avcis.police.uk/contact/

From what I understand DVLA are more interested in the sale of the tax free pre 73 (historic vehicle) V5's, that are being used to ring cars for road tax evasion purposes.

It's my biggest pet hate of the Mini scene.

All of the idiots that play it down as preserving minis to keep them on the road, well, let's not go there.  It's illegal, plain and simple.  It's just a perfect way of fueling car crime, that simple.
