Sweet :) and no, he sold that one outright in the end. He's a VW specialist and has about four other T25's in various states, but it is on the back burner for now as have a deposit on a bini clubman and might sell the pick up too along with the current bini to recoup some money back.

Just had to blow a load on money on the old bus unfortunately...

Went in to have the exhaust blowing sorted; turns out it had been blowing between the manifold and cylinder head.
One thing leads to another and ended up fitting a brand new head, recon turbo, recon manifold and all associated gaskets and bolts.
All the timing and pump timing was properly set up and now the van really drives like a dream, pulls well and is lovely and quiet.

Fixed a worn ball joint as well so no more knocks and bangs.

Nothing would come off with ease and the manifold was warped; it had been blowing that long and previously bodged that it had eroded away the face of the head. To add to the problems, two studs were stuck in the head and three of the four bolts holding the turbo on snapped...these bolts can only be purchased from VW and cost £20 each.

Got a few other little jobs to sort, need to fit an improved headunit and going to try and tidy the engine bay up a bit with a lick of paint.

Heres a few photos
