Looks like a good bit of fun,

Got the love the Saxo in the background, nothing says FAST like stickers! :)

It is fun that's for sure.
5bhp a sticker isn't it?
The saxos had issues on one of the salaom parts. The power steering wouldn't work quick enough so they where turning in nice and easy and going heavy trying to go back the other way

Yeah 5bhp a sticker is the general rule I think.
Was the problem with the saxo the fact it was a saxo?

I quite like that pic too.

It was in aldershot run by farnborough district motor club. Think in was was 6or7th In class will
Have to double check that. But I'm happy with that. Was my second attempt at one.
I run a008's on 10" wheels usually but swapped for the 12" with falkens on. Major lack of grip. Can't justify wearing out the yoko's. But still had a great fun

Cool....well done.

I have the same issue with tyres...I like them to last forever, but that doesn't equal grip!  Yoko's seem the way to go on mini's....or rather the only way to go for good grip.

Thank you.
Yeah falkens do seem to last forever and seem quite hard wearing.

There needs to be more minis taking part in autosolo's. They're so suited for it and great fun with little cost compared to other motorsports. I've got one this Sunday with Ross motor club at a motorway services. Anyone interested should check the web site and pop along.

Couldn't agree more.

People always say "I wish I could have a go at that"......well you can people!!!!  Motorsport doesn't have to be about spending loads of cash and arriving in a plush motorhome whilst a mechanic preps your car (I wish!!!). Drive your car to the event, enjoy a day hooning it round cones and maybe throw in a handbrake turn here and there, and go home with a massive smile on your face.

These grass roots forms of motorsport are so accessible there is no excuse not to have a go.

Maybe a TMF 'get your mini into motorsport' day is needed somewhere?

There was another mini at this event. There is usually a guy in another mini and he is proper good at autosolo's

It costs me £25 a year for joint membership with the wife for the motor club.
And £35 per autosolo the 12 cars we have done have cost between £5-£25 so motor sport doesn't really get much cheaper

So I assume the autosolo's you do are 'Clubman' level so you just need to be a member of the organising club? and am I right in thinking that if you do an Autosolo from the BTRDA championship that they require you to have a competition licence? (which only costs £40 odd quid for a year anyway)

Yes that's correct I and most other competitors where clubman level there where a few national b. Which is the competition licence. You don't need to be a membership the organising club just hold a current membership for your local club.

You still get the same mileage for clubmans as nat B. And as long as your motor club gets a invite you can compete at neighbouring events. Or join a regional club like cmsg which also hold championships within their club network.
