Doesnt look a too bad of a car not too keen on those vents myself...
The car must use oil surely otherwise the engine may need a look
If your local to him sure have a look

When he says, uses no Oil, he means that it doesn't leak or burn oil which is a good thing :-)

I quite like these, Would refer a T bar one myself though. Replace those corroded mirrors and it will be a tidy little car.

Hope its a good one for you.

yeah i'd prefer a T-bar! but figured they're more likely to leak?

was meaning to add in the original post, 'what do you think it's worth?', any ideas Ben?

do you think the rust is currently an issue aswell ? or just 'superficial' as he says?

sorry for all questions haha  :proud:

That's ok!

The rust on the arches and the rear valance are most likely rusting from the inside out. If it is just superficial then i would clean the back of the valance right up to bare metal (an obviously the outside) and treat it and re-paint as necessary.

Again, i would want to take the paint and rust back to bare steel on those arches and see what the situation is. If it's solid, it will just need prep and paint.

Looks like it needs very little to make it sound.

As for Value, I have no idea what it's worth. I do know what i would pay though however.

All I would say is don't buy a car even with just a little rust if you are not prepared to repair more. I've been welding a car I bought cheap and I thought the rust was superficial, turns out it wasn't! That was supposed to be galvanised too!

Haven't a clue value wise, perhaps an MR2 forum would be a good call.

Hello buddy make sure you check 2nd gear doesn't pop out! It's a known fault with these cars... Make sure there is no rust on the arches even a little bit that is viewable to the eye generally means there is a LOT more that you can't see. Just double check everything! Such fun cars though if you get a tidy example but from past experience from these I wouldn't expect to pay more than 1500 quid for this :) hope this helps and good luck :D

really like the look of your project!
im prepared for more rust than I can see in the pictures, I think what I meant by the rust comment earlier is ... that it 'doesn't need immediate attention' if that makes sense haha, i'm just really hoping it doesn't turn out to have loads of 'bodged' repairs like my soon to be abandoned mini... at this rate.

pls excuse me if what I'm saying doesn't make sense, pretty tired haha.
can't multi-quote on mobile, ballache.

both of you said 1500. that's encouraging me to buy it even more! haha.
sounds like you've owned one ?
I've read up on the gearbox issue, didn't know it happened in second gear too though!

once again excuse me if I've made mistakes and that aha.

i used to work for toyota when these were the toy to have. great little thing. 4age 16v is a strong little engine that doesnt give to much to worry about. just make sure the timing belt has been replaced. if not, get a quote and factor this into the price because it aint the easiest of jobs! rusty front and rear arches are the main areas of rot to check. the years of crap gets stuck on top of the splash shields inside each arch and rots from the inside out, being japanese, they were liberally coated with stone chip underneath which helps them last, but give it a good going over, with particular attention to the sills hiding behind the plastic skirts.

if you do buy it, make sure you run good quality tyres on it, as they drive awful with cheap rubber on, especially on the front

hope this helps,  steve
