The car is a 2005 Mini Cooper with an Automatic Transmission. The car is beautiful and nothing else is wrong with it except the transmission has failed like most CVT transmissions. My question is what would a fair price range to sell the vehicle. If anyone would provide some feedback and advice that would be much appreciated.

You'd be better asking this question on a MINI forum, such as www.mini2.com.

This forum is for Classic Minis, though we do have some members that own the BMW ones too.

I would assume you're also in the US ?

In general though, any vehicle with a major fault is going to be worth a lot less than the same vehicle without the fault... I would suggest you look at getting it repaired and then trying to sell...

I would suggest that over here it would be worth about 1/2 it's, working value.

With a 2005 MINI CVT in the USA this may help:-

http://www.motoringf...ss-action-suit/

"Under the terms of the proposed class action settlement, BMW will reimburse drivers under the eight-year/150,000 mile warranty for all of their out-of-pocket expenses associated with the transmission repair."

http://topclassactio...ion-settlement/

BMW of North America LLC has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit over allegations that it failed to disclose that certain MINI Cooper vehicles had transmission defects. If you have leased or owned a 2002-2006 MINI Hardtop or 2005-2008 MINI Convertible, you may be entitled to recover thousands of dollars or a reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses you incurred for replacing or repairing the transmission.

Class Members of the MINI Cooper settlement include all current and former owners and lessees within the United States of the following vehicles equipped with a CVT:

  • 2002 through 2006 model year MINI Cooper (R50) (produced June 11, 2001 through Nov. 28, 2006); and
  • 2005 through 2008 model year MINI Convertible (R52) (produced March 6, 2004 through July 31, 2008).

The car has 212,000 miles on it and I am looking to sell it to a close friend so he can change it to a manual transmission. And yes I am in the US.

If you want to change to the manual transmission a guide to this job is on the USA MINI Forum (NAM) North American Motoring below:-

The biggest issue with auto-to-manual is the electronics.
